Most Trump supporters aren’t even conservatives. Millions of Americans saw him for years on TV and thought he looked really smart and presidential, so they went and elected America’s first reality TV show president... When I talk with most Trump supporters, they’re always obsessed with debunked conspiracy theories and stupid shit like social justice warriors or abortion, while completely ignoring more foundational problems like dark money politics, corruption, the declining middle class, etc. But really, at the end of the day, it’s all about tribal/racial resentment. It’s true. The strongest predictor of voting for Trump in 2016 - asides from lacking a university education - was racial resentment.
What is conservative value anyway?
Fiscal responsibility. Sanctity of marriage. Free trade. Respect for veterans and their families.
Rounding up and separating children from their parents. Business before people. Business before environment. Corruption. Those are also conservative values
