Search yielded some outdated results so I’d like to pose this question again. Anyone have experience doing contract work on the side while maintaining a FT gig? Any consequences? Had a recruiter reach out about a contract opportunity. I’d be open to doing some 5pm-9pm shifts a few times a week if the hourly rate is worth it. I have pretty decent WLB in my current role so I’d be able to take some meetings here and there during the regular workday too. I wouldn’t mind disclosing this to my manager. Just want to hear others thoughts. Seems that if I bill a high enough rate I can generate some good extra cash every month. Thanks for your input. Edit, before suggesting just switching jobs to increase TC. I’ve had too many short stints, so trying to make this current one last before jumping ship again. YOE 3 TC 177k
You need to be sure it’s not a conflict of interest so you don’t get sued. E.g. you work at pandora so you probably can’t do contract work for any other similar platform.
Excellent point. Thanks
Don’t disclose to your manager. There’s simply no need
