DeShaw TC: 32L (Base: 22L, rest bonus) Microsoft TC: 24L (Base: 13L, 6L stocks, rest bonus) Which offer seems better for someone starting out as a software engineer? Edit: Added a poll.
Wow DEShaw gives that much to freshers?
Yep, even more to top IIT students.
In top IITs they pay around 45 in total
DeShaw Base amount is good 2x of Microsoft. But you can ask same from Microsoft. Bonus + Stocks are all taxable as well there are many variables attached to them. So go for DeShaw if not getting same money from Microsoft. In the end money matters buddy.
For a software engineer, I would recommend Microsoft over DE Shaw. A technologist is better placed in a tech company than in any other industry including finance. You can easily get your comp increased by moving companies in future or through promotions at Microsoft.
This. Being at Microsoft will add a lot to your resume. Don't go for money in your initial career
Have you ever worked at Shaw ? Im Member Technical at DE Shaw , its lot better than Microsoft ,I hv interned at Microsoft ,no comparison here ,work is quite good at Shaw , they are very selective about who they hire , why Op should go to retirement house which hires 1000 grads every year ? My TC :- 36.5 L , Old IIT ,0 yoe
Ask Msft to match Deshaw , else go to Deshaw
MS won't match that much for sure. They have defined bands
Yes, I don't think they negotiate for new grad offers.
Is Deshaw giving fixed annual bonus of 10L, or does it include one time sign on bonus ?
It includes sign on
Go with de shaw. You can join Microsoft later at a good pay
Msft, career growth will be better there and comp should be higher in 2-3 yrs
Oh, Is TC increase that fast at Msft?
See my reply , dont believe these guys , these ppl are over obsessed abt Microsoft,G,Amazon for just brand name .
How is MSFT TC so low? They offer 39-43 to fresher's in India. (13L + 5 Joining + 21 Stocks over 4 yrs + 2.67L Variable)
TC represents the 4 year average pay
Yeah makes sense. My bad.
Deshaw... offcourse
Any specific reason to go off-course?
Lot more money, and great wlb. You can always switch back to top tech companies after 1 year for 32 lpa or more anyway. Salesforce can easily pay 32 lpa for 1 yoe
