Data Engineer at TIAA ?

Any data engineers at TIAA who could give me some insight on how it is working there? I might have an offer from them but I would have to leave my current role to join and I’m not sure it would be worth it. I would be coding more (good) but I’m not sure I want a role that is focused on databases/Sql. I definitely think I would prefer a traditional SE role and/or cloud focused role. Also I definitely don’t like that it isn’t a full remote job. They said no one from my team would be at my location. Which defeats the purpose of going to the office. Would appreciate any insight here. Should I just stay at my current role until something better comes up? Salary is about the same I’m making now, a little under 100k.

Not that it helps directly regarding your question but for TIAA you will also get contributions towards a retirement account (this is separate from the 401k matching) - the amount is based on your age, if you are under 30 it will be 5% a year. (3 year vesting though) You also will have a bonus which depending on level/role will likely be 15-20%. So your comp should definitely be over 100k at TIAA. Coming in office seems lax so while you might have to one/twice a week it won’t be terrible and might be nice to get to know other people and get out of the house. I personally really enjoy the people I have met at TIAA.

I believe I only get 5% bonus.

Oh wow, the retirement plan should be 5% but the annual bonus should definitely be much more!

From NASA to TIAA? Wtf?! Lol I mean TIAA is pretty solid and very employee oriented company. I feel like IT management cares about me. ***your experience may vary***
