Hi there ! I am currently holding 2 offers. 1. Zeta (DevOps) -> 31L + 2L + ESOP (Bangalore, India) 2. Callsign (DevOps) -> AED 20k / month (Abu Dhabi, UAE) I can't decide which one to choose. How would I grow professionally in the UAE ? does it have enough opportunities in the future.. What if I want to come back to India after few years of working there ?! What courses do you recommend to train up in DevOps? Currently in college and don't know how to start DevOps
Anytime callsign and uae- it’s good company in fast developing country with good infrastructure and good facilities . no taxes. better work life balance.
Don't join Zeta. It's a hell hole. WLB is poor. Learning will be zero, since you'll end up deploying CMRs.
Don’t join zeta. Please.
Life at Zeta is nothing but CMRs. CMR is a jira ticket created to deploy something on Production. They're only deployed on specific windows - around 1am on Tuesdays & Thursdays. They need approval from Dev manager, SRE, discussed in a ling ass CMR meeting where bank representatives decide to approve or reject. The whole drama is first needed for UAT, followed by an encore for PROD. Devops is the frontline pawn in the drama. The poor guys get pulled in all directions, regularly work the graveyard shift. The skills built are ones around playing with this bureaucracy, which is hardly transferable
dude! Callsign was in my building at Al Maryah/Al Sarab in Abu Dhabi. just a trivia it is 90% pakis. but important points being, - 20k/mon in Abu Dhabi is peanuts. You wont get a decent place there under 6k/7k. and easily spend upto 2k/mon. ultimately saving 10k/mon AED i.e 2.5Lacs, unless you fall in trap of buying a car etc. - Abu Dhabi is a boring city, you'll be bored as hell. - you wont learn a thing there, except politics and how to pass your entire day at foodcourt or if you're into smoking you'll be found in any arbitrary nook and corner smoking and making new friends. - personal experience, all my UAE experiences are ridiculed on repatriating, no scale, no learnings, no brand. - bonus- there's no bonus. rather if you're laid off, they'll mostly make it disciplenary action and you'll be denied of your severence package and gratuity too.
