My last gig was an analytics manager at a data management company (think Talend, Informatica, Tibco, etc.). I had a couple of direct reports and generally liked the work, but the culture was poor and the hours were long. I ended up jumping ship to Mongo, but as a senior analyst. Previous TC was $120k, Mongo is $150k with 5YOE. Im happier, but sometimes worry that going down in title was a bad decision. My old job also countered with a director title and salary match but I just wanted to get out. What does Blind think?
Nah, you can do manager duties as an individual contributor role, just look for opportunities and execute them well. The brand name of MongoDB will open doors.
This was my thought when I accepted the offer, and I'm definitely growing technically at Mongo. Thanks!
“I’m happier”...enough said. You made the right move
Should have used director counter to get higher title at Mongo, them giving an M an SA title is a joke
Accidentally voted "Should've stayed where you were", you made the right move mate
