Received an offer from Disney (not streaming) as a senior software engineer Location : Hybrid (mostly remote) Orlando Area YOE : ~10 (More then half was web-dev stuff) Base : $143,000 Sign-on : $8,000 Cash + 50k LTI (vests twice a year over 3 years) TC would be about 170k according to levels.fyi? From what I understand, additional LTI is given each year at 35% of base which is about $50k along with a 7% bonus. The way the recruiter explained it is that after the LTI kicks in (3 years?) I should be getting somewhere between $200k-$220k. Some additional info: I value my work life balance. No desire or motivation to interview at FAANG or similar companies. I'm at the point where I just want to coast for a bit and enjoy life. The first two years are going to be about the same as my current TC but after that it should shoot up a bit. I was thinking about asking for a larger sign-on to make it a bit more worthwhile but curious as to what the offer looks like as a whole. Current TC : 165k #disney #offer
Yeah I’d say push for 200k+ and be willing to reject offer. Moving company is a lot of work and a measly 5k increase doesn’t justify it.
Push for more. Disney will wring you all the same
I talked to Disney recently for a more expensive region. They won't go over 173 for lead .... And 158 or so for senior allegedly. And I think it's 35 and 40% for the stock for both of those....try to get them to give you 158. I think the stock vests yearly though. .... It's not all going to vest at 3 years.
Updated original post. Vesting is twice a year over 3 years, about 16k a year. I'll see about pushing the salary higher!
Base is way too low...ask for $160k and don't accept less than $150k. LTI and bonus are standard. Sign on could be higher too
Thanks for the info. I'll see if they can up to 160k. How far do you think I could push the sign-on?
My sign on was 10%, make sure to ask for it as a percent so it goes up when you negotiate the base.
Currently in the interview process and the recruiter I talked to said that SWE II would be around 175k TC. Sounds like you're being lowballed or my recruiter is full of crap.
My recruiter initially told me TC was 190k-210k. When I asked about why it was off by so much they said they were factoring in LTI, which puts it around 200k. Not sure why this shit can't be more straight forward.
Isnt there a sign on equity ?
OP mentioned 50k LTI...that is 50k of Disney Stock as a long term incentive plan
Apart from LTI you also get one time sign on equity.
I also accepted an offer early this year at D+ in DMED but different region than you— 70k cash sign on, 180k base, I think bonus is the same but also an extra 200k LTI. Not including 40% stock at each yr refresher and another 20-30% cash bonus per year. I got this because I have multiple offer that was 225k base with another company with 20% bonus per year for a director role but no RSUs so I could leverage.
Excellent offer. For what level and yoe ?
OP, how fast was your recruiting process and how long did it take you to get a verbal offer/ offer after onsite?
Hey, What did the interview look like at Disney? How many rounds and what did they consist of? Thanks in advance :)
Ask for more, why go through the struggle of leaving 1 company and be at the top of stack for layoffs at a new company for the same TC.
Yea that was my initial line of thinking. The recruiter I'm dealing with kept bringing up the LTI and "future" salary.
Not worth the risk imo.
