Hi Devs, I just registered for a Sumo Logic Diversity hiring contest that's happening this weekend. They are giving away a OnePlus6T, an iPad and a FitBit for top performers and multiple interview opportunities. You can Sign up too - https://www.interviewbit.com/contest/sumologic-backend-coding-contest/
Hail corporate
Any deliberate attempt to fix diversity only shifts bias and discriminates against another minority group. I haven't met anyone who deliberately discriminates except under some edict. I have worked with all types of people and would gladly work with them again.
This team is in India? Why do they care about diversity hiring there?
That's interesting - there's no visible gender imbalance in tech in India from what I have observed. Unlike in the US, there seem to be many women coders and women leaders in India.
Maybe you just don't have Gender Studies pH.D. programs in India? Also, women are pretty good at any kind of thinking when they need to. In US they do not need it as much.
What is this? A competition to hire people? What are the prizes for? Very confused right now. Someone please explain...
How is it working at sumo logic?
Isn’t this kinda not diversity? Isn’t it actually sexist? I’m pretty sure discriminatory contests like this are illegal
In many countries women and men don't have the same kind of job opportunities. Even in the technical field. Many product based startups are trying to bridge the gender bias by organizing such diversity events.
Op the problem is you cannot create diverse engineers from thin air. You can’t hire people that don’t exist The unemployment rate in tech is close to 1.5% That means the tech roles will reflect exactly the diversity of tech graduates
