Expecting an offer from FB soon. I'd be happy with L6 @ 500k. I really don't want to dick around with interviewing at companies that I don't actually want to work for, just to get the competing offer. Anyone had success negotiating at these levels without competing offers?
Current tc? Tc:300
FB would probably require an evidence of a competing offer, if thats your negotiation technique. You can always negotiate without another offer, but its harder
You’re not supposed to ask any proof of competing offers or previous salary in California though. So when you mean evidence, what are you implying to?
Offer letter, but which law says companies cant ask for competing offers? They cant ask your salary, but im not sure about the offers
Nope but competiting offers are great for people who aren't good at negotiating.
Just stand your ground, if you know what you want, and willing to walk away if you don't get it, that's all you need to negotiate.
May be you can negotiate 10-20k more but asking for substantial increase might be difficult. I got 10k more joining bonus
Always be willing to walk away from a negotiation. The company has invested a lot of time and money into seeing if you’re a good candidate along with preparing you an offer. You hold the power.
Not necessarily. I walked away from my Google offer last year cos of comp and they didn’t even move.
That’s because you were coming from Walmart lmao
Depends how much they want you and how likely they think you are to actually walk away
