Biden wants to raise capital gains tax to 40%
Situation: You are going to the airport with luggage, and the driver does not even leave the car to load/unload the luggage. Do they deserve a tip?
Tip your driver, tip your delivery man, tip your waiter. The day my company starts giving me money randomly Iâd do that too.
Don't forget the mailman and the grocery store cashier.
I tip at least 1$. There will not be another life to be kind.
Why tip if the driver is not kind to you?
Bro drivers are not kind because they make 3000$ per month and have tons of expenses? Also not all drivers are unkind - obviously donât tip if the car smells like poop đŠ (happened to us) I am trying to tip people as much as I can.
Not sure why people expect Uber drivers to help with their luggage. It's Uber, not a professional chauffeur.
Not sure why Uber driver expect to be tipped. they are already being paid to do the job
Tip at least 10%
For food delivery, minimum 5 bucks, or 10-15%, whichever is higher. I figure thatâs a reasonable amount for someone to bring my food over if Iâm too lazy to pick it up myself
Have you seen how much extra you pay for xyz services? Itâs like 30% of the order just goes in extra charges for Uber and then Seattle mandate of 2.5.
I end up picking up myself usually, as Iâm hungrier than I am lazy. Plus, zero delivery fees that way! I didnât know about the city fees, though.
I always tip 15%, even when my TC was 60k. People working in the service have a much tougher life than most of us, they are the most vulnerable and many of them are just one paycheck away from homelessness. A couple of dollars donât mean much to you when you are making hundreds of thousands, it means a lot to them. Have some empathy.
Same I make $70k now and still tip 10-20%. Bad karma to not tip at all :(
What about retail workers then? And other people that make minimum wage but canât receive tips (I do agree with you btw that for us giving a few dollars doesnât hurt but I donât think itâs equitable or fair if weâre doing that only for people with service jobs)
Stop tipping for things that are expected parts of the job. The only job I tip for is waiter (because they get paid less than min. wage except in California) and barber (because a good barber you like is rare). DO NOT PAY WAITERS TIPS IN CALIFORNIA, they already make minimum wage. Tipping them was always because historically they were not covered by minimum wage laws. Fun fact: waiters are allowed to be paid minimum wage in many states because the waiters orgs purposely campaign against laws because they make waaaay more money from tips than min wage so they donât want restaurants to pay them min wage and add the wage cost to food, so next time donât blame government blame waiters for the high tips you pay, and donât feel sorry for them they want that
+1 on barber
False. They always get paid minimum wage to make the difference if they donât make enough in tips all over the country âUnder federal law and the laws of most states, employers may pay tipped employees less than the minimum wage, as long as employees receive enough in tips to make up the difference.â Also US department of labor source https://www.dol.gov/general/topic/wages/wagestips
I use the same logic tbh. If they help with luggage thatâs them doing some extra work so I tip. If they didnât then no tip just like for any other uber ride (unless they did something specific to go above and beyond)
If they're going above and beyond ie helping with bags, trying to make the ride quick as possible etc. Otherwise never. It's a job, there's a set price.
Hell no. I never tip rideshare except when going to/from the airport and only if the driver helps with bags and is friendly, and even then I only tip like 25% of the time LOL
This is really gross bro. You work at meta and canât tip your driver?
Iâm already paying the fare, which mind you these days is very expensive. Everybody wants a tip these days for doing their damn job. I say no. If you wanna be a moral tipper then please tip your cart attendant at target because he has by far the hardest job in the store. Running around outside getting carts and having to clean bathrooms and help load heavy items into customers cars. Or why not tip the janitor at the office? Theyâre cleaning up your pee dribbles on the floor. Or why not the dishwashers at the restaurant? Their job is far harder and dirtier than being an Uber driver. So please lead by example and start tipping fairly.
