I used to read books when I was younger - mostly science fiction. Now all I read is Blind and other similar forums. It’s embarrassing to say I don’t read books, but I also feel like the information I gain here is quite useful and is educational in its own way. What do you all think? Does reading forums compare to reading a book and does it stimulate the same brain activity and reading skills?
What other forums?
I think OP is referring to reddit
Yes, Reddit but also many articles on various websites where I like to read people’s comments/opinions to understand different points of view.
Blind is to reading as gas station food is to eating.
So what elements are missing? Abstract thinking? I’m actually serious.
one difference is you're reading misinformed opinions instead of well reasoned opinions.
You’ve clearly lost all your brain cells. GTFO & go read. Don’t come out of your room for the next 3 hours. - Dad
TC? You should know the drill by now
Yes if jerking counts as getting laid
Listen to an Audible a 2x speed while scrolling Blind for optimum brain growth
Absolutely. Blind and Reddit count as quality reading.
In the literal sense
Read a book
It's reading in the way that swallowing bleach is eating
Yes. All of life's wisdom is in the anonymous internet
I’d say this community appears to be intelligent and I learn a lot about managing finances, negotiating, even relationship stuff. Sometimes I end up researching topics more in-depth outside of Blind if I want to learn or validate some facts. Book authors, on the other hand, often provide a biased opinion all be it in a very detailed form.
