I have an iphone 14 pro which is currently under contract with TMobile. Planning to visit India for a bit and was hoping to use a local esim there. Checked with TMobile and they said that they cannot temporarily unlock the phone. Does anyone else have any experience with this? Will escalation up the chain help? Update - Spoke to them again and they mentioned that they used to do that earlier but have now stopped doing that because on iphone 14 pro, they cannot do a temp unlock. It has to be only permanent because of apple restrictions. So depending on the phone, the policy differs. The best option is to pay off the phone completely but I would still end up receiving the monthly credits based on the initial offer I had oped for while getting the phone.
Nope. Impossible for any carrier
I think you can have two sim at a time. We used esim as second sim along with US sim while in India
Even when your phone was locked?
Ignore what others have said Iāve temp unlocked multiple careers for this same reason, if T-Mobile doesnāt play ball move your lines And next time get a damn unlocked phone
I was traveling to India and they did not have coverage in some Places. They unlocked my iPhone 12 Pro for me. This was 4 months ago. So , yes , T Mobile does this. You just have to make a good case. Their service is best in the industry
Yes, t monile can unlock it for 30 or 45 days. I forgot which one was it
pay it off then they have to unlock
Yes they used to, but they have a bug and are not doing it anymore. I tried getting it unlocked 15 days ago
Good to know, iāve got it unlocked twice in the past 7 years and no problems
The whole purpose of locking you in their contract is so that you are not able to use any other provider on that phone you got at discount at T-Mobile. Even if you escalate up the chain, you will be the joke š¤£ think what are you asking
I am still paying my TMobile bill as usual. I am just asking them to let me add another esim to my phone which I am continuing to pay for. So not sure what is so absurd about it?
It's an exclusive contract. So you can add a 2nd T-Mobile SIM, but not any other provider. The reason you got your phone for that massive discount from them is so that they can have exclusive rights on your phone. That's the contract.
Yes you definitely can just call care, speaking as a former tmobile employee
Iām pretty sure thatās a hard no. You signed a contract.
