Why is everyone here so obsessed about green card?
Got an offer for a non-tech role at DD that expires in a week. I like the team and they are very interested. I am also in final rounds with Amazon and BCG next week. In my mind, Amazon and BCG have prestigious brand names, but DoorDash is (potentially) a better long-term play as the company keeps growing. DD comp will probably be slightly lower right out of the bat. But has the potential to grow more with stock refreshes and raises. Any thoughts on how I should approach these 3 opportunities in comparison? I appreciate any insights about the companies' culture, potential, etc.
Non-tech at DD vs a consultant at the BCG? If so, then the BCG all day long
It is a tech role but not SWE. BCG is quite interesting but the hours will kill me 😐
You always want to work in a core function of a company (or as close as possible). At DD, it won’t be a case, it seems. Also, the BCG’s brand is stronger and more recognizable (outside of Blind)
Bcg “tech” is not prestigious like bcg consulting at all in any sense from everything I have heard
Interesting. Wouldn't you say that the brand name still holds most of is value?
You should check on LinkedIn to compare where people from core bcg and people from the less competitive DV and tech arms end up to see what you think about where people place and exit options.
Op mind sharing your TC at dash, ballpark? Have an on-site coming up for a product role
DD
OP mind providing a bit more details on the different roles? Hard to give advice on this as it seems some are non tech v tech roles?
Hey DD, are you in PM by chance?
I am not. I am in systems. Roles are very similar. Obviously BCG is consulting work. Amazon and DD are similar development work. Difference is that Amazon has more experience with this solution, whereas DD is pretty new to it. So, Amazon will have more support but DD might be a better growth opportunity as I become the SME of that tool.
DD
Care to provide some insight behind your recommendation?
You’re already in consulting. You’ll get pigeonholed into that industry forever. Move to tech. Better WLB. Except at amazon which had a terrible culture. DD will be better and open up Better long term opps.
