Eb2 visa India

If I apply for eb2 visa now, how many years will it take for me to get gc?

Oracle Locus Dec 15, 2017

Cannot be predicted easily. Eb3s with earlier priority date may upgrade to EB2. 5 year minimum but 8-10 years likely with current laws. Could end up being longer

Google ouchh Dec 15, 2017

Wrong. You will die before you can get GC and your kid will retire. Don't give him/her false hopes. https://www.cato.org/blog/no-one-knows-how-long-legal-immigrants-will-have-wait

Oracle Locus Dec 15, 2017

Sigh, that is just a hypothetical point made about backlogs(and a bullshit response to OPs question). Also does not show much grasp of the political/ social/ financial situation. In reality, their are several laws which could make it longer or shorter( more likely). H1B changes could make it really tough to qualify except for high paying jobs, which could result in a lot of people in the backlog not applying or not being eligible for EB visas. The laws are in changing state. Once DACA and other illegal immigration etc is handled in either way, high skilled immigration will be next to be fixed. The fix could be either done in a liberal or conservative fashion, but stakeholders in the form of big tech companies will end up needing these fixes. Immigration Voice like organizations have already been successful in getting large number of endorsements in house, eventually that law may get through, whether it happens in 6 months or 6 years.

My guess would be 7 to 9 years.

Nothing less than 70+ yrs..

Google ouchh Dec 15, 2017

This is the only correct answer.

Salesforce Wheelson Dec 15, 2017

If laws dont change you won't be getting it in your life time.

Microsoft maverickk Dec 15, 2017

Sadly, this might be accurate

Juniper OEUI12 Dec 15, 2017

Why can’t they have PR eligibility based on number of years spent in US (say 3-5 years) like other countries. Any other law change is not going to help considering the backlog.

SAP Curious🤔 Dec 15, 2017

Podcast on npr exactly on this topic says 50 years

Not in your lifetime. So no need to worry about it. Make your money and move back to India or other immigrant friendly countries like Canada Australia or Nz
