I find it very odd how our careers and the companies we decide to work with try to shape our working arrangement after real personal relationships. This is in regards to the recent equifax sting where overemployed workers were fired. We all know that in some traditional modern cultures, we shape romantic relation around monogamy. I find it odd that companies have this same expectation of monogamy, and I think it’s insulting honestly. Because a personal relationship is hopefully more gratifying than economic benefits. When you work for a company you are undoubtedly an agent of profit for that company, and your own equity in that profit margin is quite marginal. With that being said, i think it is insulting to demand monogamy because it’s kind of creating livestock out of us. We now have an authority dictating the two streams of loyalty we must have, one to our families, and second to our job??? With a job you can be fired immediately, at least in a marriage you have many incentives to work past issues. To your job you’re expendable. A job should be satisfied with the objectives being met and intellectual property being respected. TC $730k, 3 jobs
How do you work 3 jobs at once
large 2nd tier companies are chill
If you’re working 40 hours a week x 3, that’s 120 hours a week. There are 168 hours in a week. How are you giving your best to 3 employers?
Not every job out there wants your best
You don't need to give your best, you need to fulfill the requirements of the job. If the company hires employees but can't correctly define what their employees are expected to deliver that's the companies problem. Not the employee.
I hate this metaphor, it's too forced. But yeah, I mean there is an HR thing at Microsoft that refers to employees as "human capital". If you don't think companies see us as cattle then you are probably an Elon musk fan boi.
Who gives a shit abt giving best 😅
It may make sense for workers to establish an LLC and have that LLC do 1099 contract work for companies. There wouldn't be any employer/employee relationship and no checking of multiple jobs so you could contract to multiple companies. You would also have more flexibility to subcontract out when necessary.
Tell me you’ve never actually been in an open relationship without telling me.
