I interviewed at FB for a HWE role. Still waiting for the decision, but I guess they will extend an offer. The target level was E6. I saw many TC data of FB E6 SWE (or similar roles) from levels.fyi, but don’t know how much difference is expected for HWE. At Google, the difference seems about 10% (similar base, similar cash bonus, but about 20-30% less equity compared with SWE). I’d like to set up my expectation. Anyone can give some ideas? Current TC: ~400k
Why do you want to move from Google and affect your wlb? Btw, what’s your yoe?
Yoe is 15+
I’m an E6 HWE. The difference is about 25% in terms of RSU. Salary and bonus are the same as SWE.
What do you do as a HWE? Also, why do you think there is a difference?
I’m work on development of sensors for AR/VR. The difference is well documented in internal FB groups where people compare compensation. The reason for the difference is probably why HW gets paid less than SW almost everywhere: there is more competition for top SWE talent compared to hardware and the margins for software are much higher.
Any update on this? Did you get an offer? What was it like?
I’m still waiting. :(
Did they come back with an offer? In the same boat right now. Please DM if you can’t say here!
Anyone got FB offer recently? Expecting VR/AR E5. What is range for hardware? Looks like 200 base, 500-700 K RSU, Bonus and Joining bonus
I doubt E5 RSUs are that high for HW.

For an IC5 (not E5) how does a base of 185K look like ?
And how are the sign on bonuses offered to IC or hw engineers ?
What does HWE stand for? Hardware Engineer?
Yes, hardware engineer
It's rare to see someone go from a SWE to hardware. May I ask why so?
