I’ve been struggling to find a job as a software engineer despite having over 2.5 years of experience in fintech. Should I consider fake my resume? How do companies typically verify candidates credentials? Thanks
That depends, if it’s a big company they usually do take the time to verify your previous work, it’s a smaller one it’s probable they don’t have the time or resources to do verify it
Rule of thumb: you can embellish your accomplishments, your level sometimes, and impact and play up the responsibilities as long as you can defend them in interviews, but things like dates of employment and company name and title are sniffed at background check. Never fake those
Lol instead of you fake you find solutions to it
Sell yourself. Take credit for other people's work. Say what the interviewer wants to hear and let them tick all the boxes. That's it. Don't say anything more unless you are sure that it'll benefit you. Make sure you let the interviewer walk away ticking yes on all the boxes they wanted to tick.
They run background checks and/or call your references, check your LinkedIn etc.
