I HATE my job. I hate going into work, and even started puking before going in. Im tired of the constant talk of whatever the latest US social/political drama is. Im over my whiney entitled coworkers. Etc etc etc Ive been looking for a new job for a few months now and its been rough. I came across a job at Kraken that seems interesting. Not sure if I should apply given the way the economy is going. From what Ive read, they also dont pay well for non-tech roles, so sounds like Id get a major pay cut. Ive applied to a few roles with Discover, which seems like itd be more stable. Im just not sure if I should stay where Im at since the pay is great and its “recession proof” or if i should just take a gamble on a new job during these weird economic times.
Don't limit yourself to one option. Apply everywhere and at least have some initial chats to get a better sense of team vibe and what they're working on. I guarantee you'll be surprised by at least a couple positions you would've thought would be boring.
You hate your job so much that it’s literally making you vomit — that’s *not normal*. Step one: get a handle on your mental health. Then figure out what’s best for you.
Yea no shit its not normal and Im taking steps to address the anxiety.
Are you at Apple Pay currently? Asking due to the interest in the financial companies.
No but ive been trying to get into that dept
What's wrong with Apple
Yeah go to crypto industry. That’d help you to appreciate the life you had.
Exactly. Don’t touch crypto or fintech in this economy.
Haha i know i know. 😂. I just dont know where else to apply to. Maybe just need a different dept
Maybe find yourself another team at Apple while you look for a new job?
Yea sounds like thats maybe the best option right now
Why do you hate your current job so much? You need to understand the root cause otherwise just changing a job won’t help. Mental issue is also possible. Please go to your doctor so that you have a clearer picture of your current mental health.
I know exactly whats causing it-just a long list of company/management things from the past couple years. Im taking steps to address my mental health but these things just dont get better overnight.
Discover won’t pay that much compared to apple. Kraken would be good if you can handle a good amount of risk. Just make sure it’s on a team where you are able to learn a lot
