This post is for anyone working at Apple TV or anyone in the TV industry (Netflix, Hulu, Disney, etc.). Why is it that in 2023 with billions of people on the planet and presumably some non-insignificant portion of them being good actors - mediocre (or horrible) actors are still cast for central roles like Salvo Hardin on Foundation? The actress is very obviously ๐ฎ. After a few scenes at an audition surely they could see her performance lacked depth and nuance? The repetitive scowl maintained throughout the four episodes must certainly have raised alarms? I never heard of the books, so donโt care much about the lore, or the gender switching (as I understand it). Iโm simply wondering why a sub-par actor is chosen for a multi-million dollar production in 2023. This is one-in-million opportunity. Thatโs why itโs so puzzling that the central character is portrayed by a sub-par actress. TV Folks - why? Why? Why? TC: 250 YOE: 7
Apple had nothing to do with the show's casting. They're the distributor, not the producer of that show. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0804484/companycredits/
Its like interviews. Some ppl do great at interviews but suck at their job
They also messed up with Silo. The acting isnโt great there either.
Iโm just baffled that HBO can go out there and find good actors and Apple with God-like resources canโt pull it off
