This job market is just as bad as 2008 and dot com, people just don't want to admit it, every single new job application at linkedin no matter if it's a skid-row dime store low rent scummy pos startup gets at least 100 applicants in less than 5 minutes. This is what happens when every fucking idiot decided to brag about how good they had it at FAANG in one of the many many thousands of "day in the life" videos or one of the aholes that thought it was good to say that anyone could get a tech job even with no degree, the result? Everything is flooded now, this is and will be for quite a while an employer's market, in which the only way to get a job is to accept a position in which you're overqualified for, for example, if you created reddit then you have a chance for that 5 YOE job at mom and papa pawn shop for 100K TC. If you meet the qualifications of 6 YOE for a 5 YOE job? Ghosted, rejected, they want someone with 15 YOE 0.01% complete package engineer since the whole market is flooded and they have all the leverage, and don't even get me started on all the visa applicants. And even if you get a job it won't be long for the greedy companies to just layoff all US based employees and offshore to india or latin america for more profit although less quality code This is the end for tech careers and it was destroyed by the bragging assholes pieces of filth who just wanted everyone to know how good they had it even if they were empty inside, convincing everyone to leetcode for 6 months and then apply to every job to flood this whole market. Fuck this shit, wish I hadn't chosen this career since it's just going to be the same shit going forward, layoffs and bad market
I hated those day in the life videos as much as anyone else but at the end of the day the only thing you can control is yourself so go put in the work to get the role you think you deserve
Yes, but what happens if there are 100,000+ people working just as hard or luckier than you for the same thing?
Git gud skrub
Time to ban OPT H1B etc. or choose another field of study.
OPT and H1B are not the problem, if you think about it everyone on visa is a slave, we come here with everything we own from thousands of miles away, work hard for a year then get laid off and shipped back to our country
Visa no visa this is just true. Seen similar shit happen with locals too.
Don’t forget the over employed people, hogging up 3x as many jobs as the normal person.
That's not nearly as prevalent as people (and employers) seem to think, especially in the top tier jobs at FAANG tier companies. The bigger problem is HR is so shit at their job that they even fuck up the automation used to replace them.
Amazon is right, Equifax used their own TWN data on their 3-4k employees to see who had multiple jobs and it turned out only 10 or so people were over-employed.
Companies thought they were making money from smart well-paid and pampered employees found out it was really because of free government money this whole time.
Yeah, everyone got greedy but once the government gets greedy then everyone suffers
Have you considered finding a job in your home country?
So you are advocating to keep the lucrative TC and benefits of the tech industry as an industry secret as a solution to driving off competition. Sounds a little ridiculous tbh. You know what you need to do. Increase your competitiveness, or apply at lower tier companies at more entry level roles. Change industry. Start something on your own. Etc.
Did you even read what I wrote?
So many people joined tech because it IS a great career. It’s more competitive now, but it’s still a good place to be.
Relax mate
No chance to relax if you're trying to find a job on visa, it's just impossible in this greedy ass country
I think humans are generally greedy people.
