What do you think is the future of telecom sector in general ? Used to love this sector / industry. But we are slow to catch up . Essentially telecom is just a utility providing cable / internet service with voice . Competition left and right , who can easily enter into this business 1. Cloud providers (Amazon , google ) 2. Ott providers (Netflix , Disney , Hulu) 3. OEM for telco (Cisco , Ericsson , Samsung , Nokia ) 4. Other players (apple , Facebook , starlink ) My thinking - We will end up being utility forever with thinner margin. If this sector becomes lucrative post 5G, big tech would eat us for breakfast
Probably is making telecom nervous though. Amazon and Google now have their own fiber all over the place, satellites... their own global networks.
Amazon kuiper , google started with loon (failed ) , Google Fi and pixel combo now , starlink , Facebook Telecom Infra Project , the list goes on
It is so heavily regulated, because of all of telecom's lobbyists, that it isn't that easy for big tech to get into it. Look at Google Fiber.
Well - all that lobbyists and white house care is $$$ and you know where the $$$ is right now
True, if big tech wants to go to war with telecom in DC, then you might see some action. No sign of that yet though... and not just DC, every state and locality.
