GCP CE Whiteboard System Design Interview
Anyone here have exp with GCP Whiteboard System Design question for Customer Engineers? I was wondering if Grokking the System Design Interview is enough to prepare? TC: 100k base, 20k bonus 15-20k RSU’s
Background: Passed interview, didn't team match anywhere I wanted to move. Hadn't heard about the resource. Read the preview of Instagram. It was too focused on SWE issues. The initial discussion of the requirements and goals as well as design considerations were important. Capacity estimation and constraints... Meh. More important to acknowledge that capacity needs to scale to possibly petabytes per location. The high level system design with way more infrastructure details would be where I'd focus. How did the client get to the closest data center to them? What platform options are available to host the business logic? User authentication? What type of database would make sense to store each type of data needed? How do you provide reliability? Across availability zones? Across entire geographies?

No. I think I was asked about migration as a specialty. I didn't mind the idea.
Mine was a choose your own adventure, just pick your favorite product and design it for cloud. I chose Netflix and just made sure I listed out objectives of the design, transcoding, streaming, analytics etc.
You need to understand how to build systems on top of their cloud architecture
