Got a verbal offer today for GCP Customer Engineer at L5 level. This is in analytics and ML specialization. Base: 138K Bonus: 42.68% (59K) Equity: 114k/4 (vesting 33%, 33%, 22%, 12%) Location: Non-major city in the southeast US YOE: 10 Current TC: 130K New TC: 235K (for year 1 and 2) The equity is way lower than what I thought it would be and I think the base is low too. What are your thoughts on this offer? Does this look like a good offer for L5 level? You can use this as leverage at Databricks
Hmm for southeast city base seems normal. Equity seems low though
Use your current job(they will surely counter they want to keep me, etc. )... that's what I did. 3 weeks in at cloud. You have 2x to go back to comp committee. My recruiter was a badass though. My equity went up significantly.
How do you like it so far?
Congrats on the offer. You should push for an up level interview to L6 unless you don’t think that’s appropriate. Stock definitely seems low but I’d start with the level.
Was in the similar boat as you. I got L5 in Canada Base: 147k Same bonus Sign on 22k cad Equity: 97k over 4 years. First year TC: 280k
Was this first offer? Did you negotiate?
Yup negotiated with a competing offer. Reduced about 15k equity for 22k sign on and increased base by 10k
Congrats on your new offer.
Thanks!
Wow, very impressive negotiated offer. How did you get them to raise it?
Explained to them the value I bring to the table. Also interview feedback was very positive and manager liked me a lot. I guess that played major part
Noice noice!
This looks like a very great offer. Was wondering what the difference is between bonus and sign on as I see you listed those separately with different values.
Bonus is on target earning bonus which is 42.68% of the base. The OTE for the role is $207k out of which 30% is variable i.e. bonus. And sign on is one time sign on.
If translate the numbers to Bay area location do you happen to know some reference numbers? I finished my hiring manager interview and might go into negotiation with recruiter soon.
Congrats, would you be willing to share some interview tips on DM?
This guy https://youtube.com/c/JeffHSipe. Just go over all videos related to google. That’s what I did.
Unless you have a competing offer they will probably not raise it
Got it. I am in between interviews with Databricks but it will take some time before I get to the offer stage. Not sure if that can be used as leverage.
Hey can you please tell us more about the presentation round interview
