What level is a GM and what is the salary (base+stock+bonus) at your company? More interested in: GM at Amazon GM at Microsoft GM (or equivalent) at Google GM (or equivalent) at Facebook GM (or equivalent) at Salesforce
GM is one step below VP (CVP) at Microsoft, more commonly seen on business teams like sales and marketing - on tech teams the equivalent is partner.
or Director?
There is partner director and principal director
At that level its public info for publicly traded companies. Varies a lot between millions and tens of millions. I suspect if you are at that level though comp doesn't really matter...
not true. show me listings of director salaries at Google, for example.
Sure, let me google that for you. http://www1.salary.com/Google-Inc-Executive-Salaries.html
generally you only see L9 directors use GM/MD at Google, unless they are a country director, in which case the director but if their title means they're a legal representative of the company and not that is an earned title necessarily.
GM at microsoft was partner level, typically higher end 69 or 70. One level under CVP

What is GM ? General manager ? Never heard that title in a tech company before Can you rather describe what level (type of responsibilities) are you aiming with the term "GM"..that might help answer the question. Different countries/companies use the term GM differently, for example in India it usually means Head of the company (kinda like CEO). I don't think that's what you want to ask here though
As most have pointed out, this is a level before VP. Usually lead interdisciplinary teams. I guess they are called Product heads or owners at some companies (?)...
At Google that would be Sr. Director/Director. For engineering directors at least, the yearly total compensation will be somewhere north of $1M. But there is going to be such a large variance (based on how important the role is, tenure at Google, etc) that its hard to talk about any typical number at that level.
