Received an offer from GM for a CE position. Base is 115 Level 7B YOE 8 years and a Master degree. Have relevant experience that is needed for this position. 30% travel is required for the position. Was wondering what an appropriate counter would look like.. Can I ask for sign on bonus? Appropriate increase in base salary? Any comments are helpful, thanks in advance. #interview #auto #generalmotors #offer #negotiateoffer
115k is too low for your experience and skillset. Anything lesser than $150k base is a low-ball offer
I dont think GM offers that much to anybody at that yoe what's your basis?
7b is Sr engineer level just below manager. You should get more
Hey, thanks for your comment, do you have recommendations on how I should be structuring my counter offer?
I don't know that but unless you didn't do good in interview or don't meet all the job requirements they should pay more
115 isnt bad for a 7b. You get a 12% bonus i believe you maybe be bumped up to 7a within a year or two
Try to get more. Yearly pay bump is 2 to 5% based on performance. 7a will be in 3 to 4 years with 8% bump in pay. 12% bonus for L7's. Good benefits. In detroit area, the health insurance is very cheap if you stick to the Henry ford plan.
Did you accept ? What was the final offer?
Yes, I did accept the offer. 120K base, and 10K sign-on bonus.. that’s about it!!
What is CE ?
Controls engineering
Thanks everyone for your comments/ suggestions!!
Definitely ask for more.
