Getting a used/wrong laptop from Amazon HR

I'm joining Amazon soon and just received my hardware in the mail. I selected a 13" M1 MacBook Pro (after being informed by HR that 16" models are currently unavailable), but I received a used Intel model. It came in a bag, not the original box, and has signs of wear. Does this normally happen? I already asked to see if I could switch out my 13" for a 16" once they become available again, but if that doesn't work out can I at least request to swap it for a 13" M1? Would appreciate any advice. P.S. battery also drains very fast, just from sitting open on the lock screen cus I can't log in yet TC 315 L5

Welcome to Amazon and our frugality LP

They are not frugal in office equipment especially Tech related. Just not wasteful.

They are frupid. My battery is dead and they won’t give me M1. I can’t even chose between different laptops and they’ll just provide whatever is in stock.

Same happened to me, your manager should be able to fix it

Check for data lol. I bet it’s a return from someone who just left

Yes they circulate used ones until they get obsolete. Shouldn't they? Rather than throwing in land fill something that works perfectly well. This is an office equipment not your personal one. If there is diminished functionality like fast draining battery, they will replace for sure.

Makes sense. Just looking for some more data points on who else got a used machine.

Amazon JzTR66 Apr 7, 2022

Mine was used and came in a shrink wrap. It was good shape and I did not mind. I don't even see it, hooked to a dock all the time, like a desktop. Besides, you will use cloud machines for any serious programming or computational work.

There are ways to get a replacement.

I fucking hate Amazon for this, I was surprised to see used laptop given to me on the day of joining. I was hoping a brand new machine but I got three years old mac. Luckily Amazon have a policy to get a new one if you have a 4 year old machine. I changed it a year after. But Amazon sucks in general for benefits. Even the hand wash in the washrooms are the dial brand ones which cost a dollar or two.

I agree in general, but their commute benefits are pretty good.

You mean the $170/month for cycling to work?
