I recently got internship offers from Goldman for Private Wealth Management and BlackRock for Quantitative Analyst and need everyone's advice on which one to go for. My background: I study and have done internships in tech (data, business analysis, database management), and recently got interested in Finance so I shoot my shot for these two. Personally I like BlackRock more since the job has both tech and finance, but Goldman pays better and is on the West Coast which is where I wanna go to for different living experiences and more network. Which one do you guys think will be better for the long term in terms of full-time career-wise? I think I will love both anyway but just need some long term insights. #finance #tech #goldmansachs #blackrock
Take black rock. A pwm internship means nothing.
Second this
Yep.
Depends on what team in BlackRock
I'm gonna work with the Global Allocation team
If you are going to work in APG then it’s not that great but if it is investment research teams then go for it
how did you pull a quant role (real internship) and a PWM (resume padder, literally database entry and maybe cold calling)
that’s why i need insights from people like you haha. All I know is both companies are great.
Take BLK, it’s also just an internship Global Allocation used to be a flagship fund back in the day, but lost a lot of its snazz the past 5 years. Still a good opportunity as they invest in everything. The team is mainly based in Princeton
Blackrock - more things you can learn there vs GS PWM
Which place do you like the people most? That will make or break the experience. Everything else is nice to have.
It’s hard to say bc I love both equally through the interviews. But I decided to go for BLK eventually because I like the quant job more. Thanks btw :)
Screw the pay, go where you’re going to learn more. That is more valuable then pay in my opinion for an internship.
Agree. Pay will automatically follow if you stay on the lookout. Dont settle.
PWM = Scam people out of money by having perceived value (it’s only 1% of AUM per year...) Quant = Develop legit skills that will help your career
Tc or gtfo
STFU
@piughko it is very simple, ask for people's opinion and provide them the right context. TC in this case. I wonder if you'd say that in a face to face interaction.
