Google is currently in a hiring freeze and has laid off some of their contract workers. What do you think will happen to people who do the Google Engineering Residency program remote this year? Do you think they will be in a similar situation since they are also fixed term employees? #layoff #google #engineeringresident
According to my recruiter, residency programs are still a go (for now). The layoffs that made headlines a few weeks ago only applied to an external staffing agency that Google has a contract with. Residency programs are considered FTE offers even though it's technically a "contract position." I haven't heard FTE offers from Google getting rescinded yet.
Everyone is getting offers from residency program as well as those who are interning. Only external hiring for l3 is frozen acc to my friend
To be very honest. If you are African American, you will certainly get an offer. If you are not, chances are small for this year. The HC are cut for entire year, and we are asked to plan 2020 and 2021 with current HC. I know teams are looking for experienced L4 to fill in vacancy, haven’t seen anyone looking for L3.
Any word on all the other residency programs in terms of the HC? I'm set to start in Feb at MTV.
My eng res is white and got theirs. Lots of white, Indian, and Asian males are all getting offers from their cohort. Stop spreading this bullshit. Sorry people are trying to make things better for underrepresented groups. Don't try to turn it into a fight.
