I have a Google interview next month. Recruiter said that it is on L3/L4 track. All the rounds will be technical coding interviews. My interview performance will decide the level. I have been Leetcoding for some time now and will continue to do the same. In the past, I have interned at Google so I have experience interviewing with them. Since, I will again have only coding interviews, I am wondering: What are the specific axis or criterion they will be looking for in an L4? I have a month, and want to try my best to get L4. Is there anything specific I should focus on more? Any pointers / suggestions / comments will be highly appreciated. YoE: 1y TC: 80K #google #l4 #interview
Regardless of how you do, you’ll probably get L3 because Google likes down leveling people
Google downlevels if you don’t meet the bar for the level..
I think Google gives a shit about FB levels, if you are L4 at FB, you’ll get the same level at Google
I'm surprised you're being assessed for L4 with just 1 YOE In any case, generally with candidates with less than 5 YOE, they'll assess you for L3/L4. Which one you get is completely depends on your interview performance + recommendations by other Googlers you may have previously worked with. I believe the difference they look for between L3 and L4 is much beyond just how quickly you can come up with the optimal solution, but more emphasis on the effectiveness of your communication, how clean your code is, and higher expectations in expertise in the language you're using. Source: recently got L4 with 2.5 YOE
This. Was evaluated at 1.5 yoe.
@Yelp, thanks for the insightful reply. Regarding "recommendations by Googlers", should I forward the respective names to the recruiter? At what stage of the process are those required?
how were you able to interview with 1 yoe? I was told by recruiter that i couldn't interview right now because they're focusing on higher yoe
Might have to do with when you applied
Was in the pipeline for long. Couldn't interview earlier.
