Unless they are using data this becomes just another form of the popularity contest. With the data we have access to today, employers should know who is silent quitting, not showing up, not contributing and not moving the needle. Why they still need the subjective “performance review” system that awards the old boy’s club is beyond me.
When CEOs say things like “productivity is down” what do they actually mean? How are they measuring this if at all? It always just sounds like total imaginary BS to me.
It's literally stupid metrics like revenue(profit)/employee going down. Well duh, the market is tanking
At Uber for engineering, they have started measuring it using no. of diff/pr per week as metric, its a complete nightmare, people are now just gaming the system making more small diffs and cleanup diffs rather than working real changes, architectures, improvements.
