Hey - I’m a product director at google. Currently make about $1.4M/year. I’m trying to figure out if I’m fairly paid (or should I be asking for more). If you are a PM director at Google or Meta, I would appreciate if you can share your compensation. I’ve heard that PM directors can range from $1M - $2M per year, but would like to better understand the distribution.
You know you made it if you're asking people if if you should ask for more when you're getting paid a sweet $mill. Hope I can achieve this one day.
Can I ask how old you are? I feel like making director as a PM at a FAANG company is a lot of grinding and luck. But also a lot of times knowing the right ppl at the right time.
They are treating you like a beggar!
How did you get to this level sir/mam?
$1.4m. That is an insult.
Wanna swap jobs?
I’m a lowly L7 PM, but I thought L8 is more in the $900K-1.5M range and that L9 is what gets people to $1.5+. wooloo1 (an L9 Eng director on Blind) has posted about VP comp before and I recall “entry-level” VPs being in the $2-3M range IIRC).
Hey, do you mind referring for an internship at google?
Sorry, referrals don’t help unless it’s from someone who knows you personally. Best wishes though!
you are fairly paid for an L8 PM.
Ok thank you. Can you share the source of your feedback. Are you an L8 PM as well?
Just look up “L7 PM offer” on Blind. You can also look up Eng Director comp on Blind as PM gets paid at least 75-80% of Eng in big tech and depending on the person can make close to equivalent comp. you are not top of market but that market may not even exist anymore in current economic environment
My former Amazon L8 got a 2M offer at Google.
As a PM?
Yes
