Google Perm
My H1B is expiring in Nov 2025. Was waiting for PERM process to start off again in Q1 2024 based on Immigration town hall last quarter . But now given the layoffs guessing it will again be postponed . Anyone in the same boat ? What are our options? Really getting tensed and feeling lost at this point. TC:$240K #google
I’m sorry :( I wish there was something positive to say. Hopefully is it’s the end next year, you’ll go on an even greater adventure with a job somewhere else exciting!
My opinion for everyone in this boat: let go of your money/big tech/“prestige” obsession. Go to a Series A-ish startup (or even seed depending on your appetite). They’re still hiring. Take a pay cut with some paper equity upside. Learn more in 2 years than you will in 5 years at Google. You can make career leaps. They will file your PERM and I140 (obv ask before hand). After 2-3 years you can go back to Big tech if you want to at that point. And if you and the company do really well it is even your route to a future EB1A. But, only go with the right intentions. Don’t go with the “omg I can’t wait to file I140 so I can go back to my beloved Google”. You will sink your own chances of outsized success. Just my 2c based on experience.
Try for NIW via G with the time you have. Later try L1 maybe which is anyways a better path than PERM ig
G announced no PERM until 2025 a couple months ago.

Can't you relocate to Google in Canada for a year then come back on L1?
Best bet try eb2 NIW premium processing. Research well on the packet preparation, get good reccomendations, paper, poster , publications help further. ATB!
