Why would they ask Data Structures questions for Salesforce position?

I had a technical onscreen with an Indian who literally asked me to code on google document. I tried my best to write the complete code. I kept asking multiple questions, I spoke my mind out by putting multiple assumptions how you could solve in different ways. Sometimes even an experienced engineer won’t be able to code correctly without executing the script. I absolutely hated the interview as the person did not talk about my experience nor was interested to know me. In the interview itself I understood that I won’t be in as he kept saying I only want coder ( Definitely a coder who does not think or have brains🤪). Good luck. I feel you get better pay for Application engineer roles at startups/mid level. Got to know LinkedIn pays very well than google for AE role. Other than google on your resume I do not see any other reason why would anyone want to work as Application Engineer at google
