I was told that I cleared the software engineering Management interview loop and now the recruiter is pressing me for compensation. Recruiter said my feedback was very positive overall. Honestly, I have no idea what to ask. I'm being asked to relocate to the Bay area, I'm in Austin now. Yoe 15+ yrs Can someone provide guidance please? I checked levels and I'm still confused on what to ask .,.. there's a big range Thank you.
Yoe doesn't matter much. What level. Also TC || GTFO
Sorry, I don't know what level yet. Recruiter said that I cleared the interview panel with good feedback. She said the hiring manager who brought me in to the interview needs to say he's still interested and then it goes to a panel?!
Tc now is 300k all included
500k
You're spot on - I said I don't want to discuss until it's really moving to the offer stage, the recruiter proposed 500k as a starting point and asked if that was in range
What did you respond? You should always say something like “hmmm that seems a bit lower than what I expected but we can come back to the numbers at offer stage”
500k sounds like t6 find out the level
What did your interview loop look like?
1 coding, 1 behavior, 1 system design + coding + technical questions, 1 systems design, 1 Project management
Thanks, what level was the coding at? Leetcode medium or hard? Also what level of detail did they want you to get into with system design — were you able to stay mostly high level or did they want to dig into specifics of the components?
Is this for a HW Mgmt role? Are you currently doing HW or SW?
Btw, it's a bit unclear from your description. Not sure what you mean when you say you 'cleared the interview loop'. It has to be approved by the HC. At G, all your feedback can be positive, hiring manager can want you, but HC can still reject you.
Sure, I understand. That's why I said it's still pending. Are there high chance of HC rejecting for a successful candidate with positive interview panel feedback? Sure, there is a chance but is too common
Ok. 500 is too high for L5. That can only be slotted against L6+. Depending on how you recruiter worded it, she may have included sign on as part of it, which would mean that after year 1 your tc could drop.
285k
Lol
1. Determine your level(seems like level 6 from the 500k number) was 2. Go here - https://www.teamblind.com/article/google-engineer---total-compensation-in-us---ultimate-post-jYcrij5X 3. Add 10% on top of the top of the band salary 4. Negotiate. Should be able to get 90% number 5. The data above is for engineer, Cali rate it with engineering manager factor. I am assuming it’s the same! 6. Good luck and Enjoy!!!
What level are you coming in as? P.s. congrats and welcome
No idea yet. And still waiting to go through two more barriers - hiring manager ok and the panel ok. At least that is what I understand the process to be. With 15+ years, what level should I ask for?
L5 or L6. It's not just about the number of years, but also what your current position is. But probably good to ask the recruiter sooner rather than later.
