Applied for L5 but after the phone interview recruiter said more suited for L4 and if I do good they can offer extra interviews. I agreed and I thought I did okay in the interviews. Recruiter said my package went to the hiring committee but then got rejected by HC. Recruiter told me that I did not clear the bar for L4 and the HC did not consider me for L3 because I have more than 8 yoe. Told me to do the full loop again next year, I get to skip the phone screen. TC - 250k yoe - 8+
Man, I got rejected post 6 rounds because in one round I applied the algorithm which interviewer was not aware of and he put the feedback candidate did not applied the xx algorithm
I once had a mock interview on interviewing.io with a real Google engineer. I solved the problem in NlogN time complexity. He asked me what I can do better without giving any single hint. I wasn’t able to find the solution, but I coded up the NlogN solution accurately, which had some pretty complex logic. In his feedback, he said I have strong problem solving skill, strong coding skill and strong communication skill. HOWEVER, since I wasn’t able to find the O(N) solution by recognizing the problem as a monotonic stack pattern, he recommended leaning no hire! He said he gave leaning no hire instead of no hire because I was able to code up the NlogN solution. OP, what I’m trying to say is, there is a lot of luck involved in Google interview. If you get someone like this google interviewer in real interview, the chances of passing the round are significantly low. In this case, candidate’s performance is solely based on solving leetcode perfectly, which makes zero sense. I paid a total of 5 mock interviews with google engineers, all other 4 gave me strong hire/hire.
Thanks for detailed insight. It’s ends with matter of luck besides preparation 😯.
Which is why there are multiple interviews, and HC can callibrate interviewers as well. Interviewer feedback isn't considered absolute.
hang in there, got in after the 3rd try, there's a lot of luck involved
