Google's one of the industry leaders for a lot of things - I'm pretty sure most companies and even startups wouldn't have the amenities/perks before the big FAANG ones did. Half the recruiting points for startups (where I worked before) were comparisons to FB/Google: free lunch and dinner; nap rooms; table tennis + pool tables; maternity rooms, etc. My parents and friends didn't have this (and still don't) at Fortune 100 companies. But it entices startups and smaller companies to attempt at giving all of Google's perks in order to attract talent.
