Folks I have an l7/l6 interview scheduled with Google. The recruiter mentioned something about code review interview? Never had experience doing this type of interview. Is it refactoring the code? Finding potential bugs, making it optimal etc. Also how are the design interviews? Also what is the TC range? Currently l7 at Amazon. 27 person org. 10 yoe as manager, 6 yoe managing managers. Current TC: 570 Ps: why is the company typeahead so slow in blind?
No coding for sdm at Amzn.
Not true. They have it. At least at L6 level and L7. Maybe it changed very recently, but used to be.
He! Laughing. I am a BR with more than 500 interviews and have never seen a loop with coding for SDM6+ in the last 5 years. You may be referring to other companies - eg goog and fb have different loop compositions.
I haven’t heard of a code review interview at google, and given they are very process driven I wonder if this is something experimental? Or maybe only for l7, or maybe op misheard? In any case op your recruiter is the best source of information. They want you to succeed and will try to provide as much info as reasonably possible about the format.
Maybe OP refers to coding round?
That's some sweet TC for an Amazon L7. How many TTs to get to that point?
What's tc for l7 at Google? 800? With maybe half the scope.
>Ps: why is the company typeahead so slow in blind? Engineers who made it didn't read grokking?
I didnt read grokking, YOE 15+, but mostly on FAANG. Been with AMZN for less than 4 years. Should I read grokking the system design interview?
I think Grokking is good for lower IC level, single SD interviews. For a deeper dive, I thought ‘Designing Data Intensive Applications’ was much better
Its coding interview. Unlike Amazon, google and fb wants managers to be able to code.
Are you currently in Seattle?
L6 EM you will have a coding and distributed system design interview rounds plus manager rounds. L7 EM it will be distributed system design rounds plus manager rounds (edit) and you might have coding a coding round.
Does that mean that L7 EM don't have coding interview at Google?
L7 EM has one single round of pretty rudimentary coding round at Google. I went thru that loop before.
Q
How did you get a job at Amazon as L7? You never had coding round? As far as I know even managers do coding round there.
Sounds like op never had a bug bash style interview. I haven't gotten that from Google either so not sure what to expect there.
I think OP is not talking about coding round. More like bug bash. Does Google even do that. I got that in Twilio for senior software. Also thought l7 in Google maps to Amazon l8.
