+15yrs exp (8 in programs/projects, 7 in technical architecture) I’m going into the last round of interviews with Google for the role of Technical Program Manager in GCP. The feedback I’ve gotten from their recruiter is that I need to go into more details of program management and less into my technical background. I’d love any suggestions on examples on what to drill down into for the last round. I’d really like to nail this interview!
Probably questions like Tell me a time when 1. a team member didnt deliver 2. you messed up the project (and deflected 😈) 3. your risk paid off or didnt 4. ur estimations were way off 5. u had an impossible engg team to work with 6. manage leadership’s expectations 7. how did u set guard rails for success bla bla bla black sheep
What level are they interviewing you for ?
Short answer: 4-6 Long answer: For this role, the Google interviewing committee makes that recommendation to the hiring committee (which the candidate does not meet). That’s based on the interview feedback of 4-7 staff.
Got it Thanks In essence the interviewing committee decides the level
I’ve been through the interview process with them once before (last year) for a different role. This time I did lots of interview prep on their process so I am very well prepared for their methodology and went to ask questions as well as how to give the answers. In this case, it’s a bit surprising to be told that for a technical role, they want to hear less about examples siting my technical experience
Did you have coding rounds for the engineering manager role ?
