The recruiter would not share any feedback from my first onsite 1 week ago, which was for a specific team that rejected. Now I got invited for another onsite next week. This would be two onsites within two weeks with two different teams. The recruiter won’t share any feedback. I’m worried I’ll make the same mistake in my second onsite. I keep thinking back what went wrong and can’t seem to point to anything because the interview went really well. I am confused on how to prepare for the second onsite. Advice? How can I convince my recruiter to share feedback before the second onsite?
This definitely seems really weird. I think you must have done basically perfectly but they found someone internal or slightly more qualified. Is this for SWE?
Yes SWE.
What teams? This happened to me last time I interviewed with G, failed the SWE interview, then got invited to interview with another org with eng titles but not SWE.
Did you get in the second time?
nope, it's for the best though, wouldn't be a good fit in the other org.
Likely a new loop for a non-SWE ladder
If it was for a very specific team then probably what happened it was maybe more of a culture fit. It's not really common to get invited for two on sites for two different jobs from Google. If anything I'm willing to bet that it was a very very difficult call for that team.
So then it makes me wonder if the second onsite will be focused on team fit rather than functional skills?
Just curious, what are some typical culture fit issues?
