I'm in the process of applying for a green card, but the immigration team Google works with is being very vague about timelines. There are three steps in the process: PERM labor certification, Immigrant petition and adjustment of status. I'm still in the first phase and it's been 10 months, and they're saying it'll be another 4-5 months until i move on to the immigrant petition. (Only the 2nd phase) Has anyone gone through this process? How long on average does each phase take? Why are these lawyers not more transparent about the timelines?
Thanks for that! So much more information than the lawyers would give me. Well... I was planning on leaving Google in Feb. But I guess I'll have to stick it out for an additional 6 months. :( Bummer.
Stage 2 takes 3 months and stage 3 is 8 months currently. And this is only the processing times for USCIS without considering how long it takes the lawyers. Step 2 and 3 can be filed together though so it can be 8 months processing for it.
Is it eb1, eb2 or eb3? Timeline varies. If you are from India or China then wait could be longer
Damn why does this take so long???? Are you guys engineer? My friends perm step only took 6 months at Amazon. Why google take so long?
The first step takes the longest. Lots of back and forth between your manager and the lawyers plus job posting plus cooling period, etc. for me, the PERM step (from PERM initiation letter all the way to DOL certification) took a bit less than 12 months. After that, the seconds and third steps took 6 months in total (3 months for each stage)
