Green card marriage between Indian man and American woman

Assuming we could meet, get along well, and create the illusion of “dating” for however long would be necessary to make our relationship look legitimate, how much would you be willing to pay to pull off a good ol’ fashioned green card marriage? I’m white, 31, attractive, live in sf. In order to avoid breaking any tax law we could set something up where you became my roommate and paid a larger share of rent or something. Is this as stupid as it sounds or would it actually work? How fucked would each of us be if we were found out by the government?

If you’re getting married for money then have them pay the full rent. You’re their wife after all 😉

Apple Pizzapoop OP Apr 12, 2018

We would not be having sex. We would agree on a fair comp amount and then work backwards to figure out how to pay it without getting caught.

Make a movie after that. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0099699

You don't have to worry about government. The first lady of this country married for green card

Amazon Tksxus3 Apr 12, 2018

Don't worry the last president wasn't even born here

Google charim Apr 24, 2018

Not really. She got NIW green card.

Microsoft HandymanGa Apr 12, 2018

My friend’s cousin actually did it. She paid $20,000 to buy marriage greencard. It takes 3 years of “marriage” to get green card though. So it’s sort of a long term commitment. She is now a single mom divorced the 3rd time.

Wait. A women, having a baby of that man, needs to PAY HIM?

Oracle Madmaxf Apr 12, 2018

Yea wtf

LinkedIn wiseguy_ Apr 12, 2018

It's likely illegal to try that

Apple Pizzapoop OP Apr 12, 2018

No shit. But with the proper planning and execution it could be done.

Does it follow with alimony post divorce?

Apple Pizzapoop OP Apr 12, 2018

My thought would be that we would have a prenuptial agreement which would stipulate that any existing assets or future earnings would be kept by each side. No purchases above a nominal amount would be made jointly. The payment to myself would come in the form of covering rent or potentially they would lease a car for me to drive. But hell, I have no idea if this is too dumb to work, just musing and wanted to hear others’ opinions

Heard from a friend, an American citizen Indian girl , married an Indian guy on h1 , she treated him like a slave, made him pay all her and her family expenses and got most of his money in divorce ( whatever left of it) that guy got the green card, now a citizen , but still afraid of her

Apple Pizza007 Apr 12, 2018

Why the hell he did not get a prenuptial

Google secluded Apr 12, 2018

Prenuptial would have been a non starter for the girl.

You will raise every red flag and be interrogated like in a KGB movie. If you fail the interrogation you will both face criminal charges. one of you will be deported and blacklisted for life. Don't fuck with fascists.

Apple Pizzapoop OP Apr 12, 2018

Will we though? If we become friends and get to know each other and even move in together what could they possible ask us?

Amazon DNS Apr 12, 2018

A classic example is to ask both of you about body marks on each other. If you're willing to see each other naked, sure.. but what about name changes? Joint bank accounts? Mortgage? These will be huge red flags

Is this not fraud?

Amazon quag Apr 12, 2018

Very

Amazon Ulub72 Apr 12, 2018

Federal

Autodesk Anomalyæ Apr 12, 2018

To people thinking about doing this. If your “spouse” outed you to ICE, your green card/citizenship would be rescinded and you will be deported.

Apple Pizzapoop OP Apr 12, 2018

And wouldn’t the spouse face federal charges as well? The main issue is if some third party reported you and then ice investigated and decided to pursue a case

Amazon Ulub72 Apr 13, 2018

You can outed saying that “I believed he loved me and it was real but just found that....”
