Got offered a Staff level role at #Harness, reading lots of bad reviews for WLB mainly from ppl working for harness in India. How is wlb and culture for harness in USA? The company has tripled in valuation from 2019 April to 2021 Jan, how strong is the future outlook for this company? Any idea of when they want to IPO? Offer: Base 194K Stock Options 37000 (@1.7B valuation - 83K/year) TC: 277K 1.7B valuation is from back in the Jan funding round so they're likely worth more now. Also any ideas what numbers to Target for staff for stock options and base? The upside and growth of the company is interesting but strongly negative wlb reviews and comp isn't super exciting

WLB is bad for both USA and India. I don't know the numbers of US, but Harness definitely tries to play the lowball game by selling you dreams of hyper growth.
It’s equally bad wherever you are. Most of my time here, I’ve seen this constant pressure to deliver, so people who lose out on life by working till AM morning hours or slog on the weekend to impress higher management stand out. You need to decide that you’ll be ok to accept that as normal thing to happen here or else you won’t just stand out. So, naturally, WLB has gone to shit. IPO is definitely many years away.
What makes you think IPO is many years away? 3x growth in under two years is pretty promising
So you think it’s going to happen next year? Or the year after that? It’s still atleast 4 years away.
I think we'll IPO in the 4 year time frame. The company is doing well. WLB is bad, tech quality is bad, engineers are low quality, management sucks on every level, titles are inflated BUUUTT the company is doing well. Ask for a lot of money, they'll seek approvals to get you it.
Updated to add offer details, what do you think?
Ask for 250k with the same amount of options lol
IPO is in 3-4 years. Wlb is not great, but becoming manageable. Code base is not great, but thats why they are hiring great people now. Staff should be around 50lpa( base plus var)

The amount of esops offered are great given the stage of the company now. If you're ok with wotking slightly odd hours and stay for atleast 3 years the returns will be amazing. It is a very competetive offer according to me especially if you are remote
