Headhunter or just apply directly for quant finance

Have gotten Sr. SWE roles at two sigma, Akuna, and a few others, but haven't been able to crack Jump, Js, HRT, headlands, TGS, Renaissance or citSec. I've used both headhunters and applied directly for my past quant finance offers, not sure which one i should do for my next search. Any reccs?#engineering #software #swe TC 400k 5 YOE, still at G

Are you a core C++ dev?

When I last played this game: Rentec, Jump, JS all got back to me directly (Although Rentec was just to say no lol) HRT, Headlands, TGS and CitSec I went through a recruiter. The problem is that you sometimes need to go through a recruiter, but it can be hard to figure out who is "actually" currently contracted with them.

Itโ€™s all the same. Recruiters really help connect you with companies you havenโ€™t heard of.

I've had good experiences working with external headhunters ... not to throw too much shade, but the internal, salaried recruiters are much less, shall we say, motivated.

It really depends. Ive talked to a bunch of headhunters now and they always talk about the same 5 firms (HRT, Jump, Citsec, JS, Headlands). Like literally just those 5. If you are already at faang or were at an ok HFT firm those 5 are not too difficult to get by just applying on your own. I would encourage you to get a headhunter though if you are aiming for anything more niche.
