My SO works at Intel, I work at Nvidia, we expect to have a kid by next year, so it’s important that we pick a good plan, so wondering if someone has some insights that you can share I keep hearing that in the sf Bay Area it’s better to just insure for yourself through your company and mostly that works out to be cheaper is it true ? Tc: pretty low that a lot of people on blind would call us as modern day peasants
Intel's anthem plan is perfect too with HSA.
+1. Intel HDHP with HSA open access is perfect.
HSA is awesome!! permanent tax free income.
Perhaps you misunderstood how this works. Withdrawals for non-medical are taxed as income, if before you are 65 there is a 20% penalty. Hardly tax free income.
Correct, if u withdraw, there’s tax. Why u need to withdraw if U can spend it like cash tax free? Health card is permanent need for everyone, right?
My experience with Nvidia Kaiser's plan when we had our child in 2010 was great. The Santa Clara Hospital has private labor and delivery rooms. After your baby is delivered, you are moved to a mother and baby room. Due to some blood count that was abnormal, or little one had to admitted in the NICU for three days. My wife and I were allowed to stay rooming in the hospital until we all went home (she was kept as a patient during that time). The newborn club that you attend the week helps a lot to make sure breastfeeding is going well. The best part, there were no bills sent to us. I don't remember having to pay anything out of pocket.
Kaiser hmo or Kaiser hsa plan ?
Kaiser hmo.
This is a question for your wife’s doctor. Ask the doctor what insurance work the best
We don’t have a doctor yet , so yeah we’re looking for doctor referrals too if you have one
Intel Kaiser if we remember right you need to pay $250 copay for delivery. Everything else is covered
If you’re having a kid, look at Kaiser.
Intel's health plans are one of the best in the industry
I thought HDHP even with HSA is more expensive if you are having a kid, since will have a lot of doctor visits.
The regular visits are usually subsidised...esp for the to be mother's... At least in Kaiser... And then there is the cap for the year if it's hdhp
You will not your OOP max bit with Intel it is 5.5k and with no premium. So it is a great deal
I don't know about NVIDIA. but Intels Kaiser plan is perfect.
Yes second that
