I really need pointers for investment options. I have 401k, HSA contributions. Make $5200 per month after all deductions. I save around $1800 after all expenses. Have $15000 in savings. Single income family. No children. I really want to save on house rent but I haven’t found any cheaper options. What are my best options for investments? Where can I start?
Why not buy a house? U will save on house rent + build equity in the house. U have extra 1800 per month as cushion for mortgage payments - which will be higher than rent
I just started thinking about it but then how about down payment?? I don’t want to touch emergency funds(15k).
Hmm with a single earner it’s hard to come up with downpayment comfortably. FHA loans work with 3% downpayment I think
Are you maxing your 401k contribution and HSA contribution? That would be the first place I would start. It took me six years to do this and I wish I had done it earlier.
