I have applied for a remote job at a company in california. The hiring manager round went ok and the HM demanded in talk and emails that I mention my actual address in the resume and send it. Only full address is acceptable and not zip code or city/state. But, I don't want to share my address at this stage. I have never seen any HM or company doing this. Are there any circumstances in which its ok to ask for address this early? Should I simply pass on the opportunity? Btw, I have seen Bank of America, Kaiser permanente require ssn in their job applications. So, I wonder if such intrusiveness is common in banking, healthcare, defense etc. PS - I won't name and shame. Semi tech role, YOE 4, TC 105k. #tech
Anyone can find your address with your name more or less. I think it is ok if it is a credible company.
Not unless you have requested data aggregator companies like whitepages to remove your details from public search.
If you are at the offer stage, a few companies still have pay bands based on your location. So the offer could change drastically based on where you are actually located; also for tax purposes sometimes companies can’t let you work if you are in certain states
Its far from the offer stage. Won't the state/city or zip code be enough in this case?
Than yes
You can literally get on yellow pages and look up peoples addresses. This is public information
Not unless you have requested such companies to remove your details from public search.
Most people don’t request companies to remove your details from public search
Just ask why they want it. Maybe it’s to send you a coffee mug.
Lol. I'd ask for more if they were in the mood to gift.
Most places require an address when you apply for the job. Not sure why it's an issue here. They wouldn't ask if they were not seriously considering you for the role.
Lol 🤣🤣
I’m genuinely curious why you don’t want to share? Do you think they are a scam or will steal your identity?
I prefer to provide info only if its really needed.
If its known public company i don’t think its even an issue but if its some scamy company why r u even applying.
They think you are applying from abroad.
Well, a faker could give a fake address and the company might not be able to verify. Its the act of asking the address too soon which I find odd. E.g. What if candidate is renting or lives with parents/family?
