Would it make it easier to get into places like Pinterest, Airbnb, LinkedIn, Netflix, etc.?
Personally I think cap1 interview is way easier than bbq. Also bbg pays way more
Yeah the pay is definitely way more, but my hope is to get into something bigger. But just in case Bloomberg is all I get, I'm wondering how big of a step it is
Completely a step up and way better pay. Easy to move to FAANG + hedge funds
Lots of people move to FAANG+, and a lot of recruiters contact me from there (except Apple and Netflix for some reason). Avoid terminal/trading centric teams if at all possible, cause you probably won't learn anything there.
Isn’t the terminal the main product? Why won’t you learn anything?
Probably because the product is very mature, and maybe the system design is different from common applications you would design in normal job
I made the move from Capital One to Bloomberg. Less than 2 years later I am moving again, with offers from FAANG and hedge/HFT firms. So I suppose in terms of just “brand name” it was sufficient. I did generally enjoy my time at BBG though. Feel free to DM with more specific questions if you’d like.
What HFTs? Also any insight on these teams? - Storage - trade and automation - Market Data Distribution
Citadel and Jump. No insights on any of those groups unfortunately.
I moved from faang to BBG and still get emailed by faang recruiters almost every day. I can’t speak to how much it differs from cap one but I def like it here. If you can join as senior swe they will pay you quite well… new ppl get great offers these days (though probably still not quite as good as faang or hft). WLB is great.
I'd say they are similar. Bloomberg pays a little better but I don't know that the work environment, technology, or career path are necessarily better. Exit opportunities are basically the same.
When I interviewed with both, the TC quoted by Bloomberg was nearly double of C1. The TC I got also beat out Apple and Coinbase’s. Though of course Coinbase ended up having a very successful IPO.
Bbg is definitely a step up from C1, at least on engineering side
Stay away from bbg, its hell
Really? Like how?
Shitty upper management, Bloomberg wants everyone in office, rto propaganda, toxic culture, no growth, shitty salary to existing employees- new hires getting shit load of money, archaic tech stack, 0 transparency .. list just goes on, check pulse score, Bloomberg is only worse than better.com
