I leased a 2016 Toyota Camry but just bought it. During the lease Toyota recommended getting it maintained every 5000 miles which they fully covered. Now that I own the car and it has about 41,000 miles, and I still supposed to bring it in every 5000 miles or are there bigger ranges now like at 60,000, 90,000, etc?
It's a Camry, just oil change twice a year
3000 mi, keeps the mechanic away
Find a local reputable mechanic who works with Toyotas
1000x this
ToyotaNation.com It's a Toyota so don't get ripped off. All it would need is oil change for 150k miles. Probably few suspension components. Get reliable autoshops from forums. Don't go to pepboys and like wise.
Pep Boys/Jiffy Lube etc are fine for oil changes
Thank you.
Find an independent shop for real services, WAY cheaper than dealers... and if they are a little pricy on oil changes you can find a cheaper just oil and fluids place. Oil change is the most frequent thing. Every 6 months (or in rare cases 3 if the manual says) or however many miles the manual says - can be anywhere from 3000-10000. Can be as cheap at about $30-50 at an oil change place. Services should be laid out in the manual (or a separate maintenance schedule booklet) make sure you use the regular schedule not severe (unless you are driving for Uber or in some other way abusing the carl. Next big service is probably 60k miles, might be something at 45k
Thank you!
Follow the maintenance plan in the user manual and it will last 200k miles easily
I had an Uber driver with a 2015 Camry with 220k miles and still running strong. These things seem almost indestructible.
It depends on how long you want to keep it. Toyota and Honda are relatively easy to keep but not every model is as reliable as other models. You may want to do some search on the model specific forum and find the common problems with your model year. Except for wear and tear (brake, tire, oil change, and others), watch out for big item like timing belt change. You cannot ignore it. Make sure you change it at the suggested schedule. Or, the repair afterwards will be very expensive.
