I am an Indian citizen and wish to work at any of Europe, US, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Israel basically for better TC so I can be financially independent before I'm old, and WLB. It is well known that such locations give 5 to 10 times compensation compared to India for the same role and experience. I have leetcode premium and regularly solve hards from it. I also have done many online courses to learn important topics and brush up concepts. However I find it really hard to get interviewed by companies at such locations at the first place. Is my requirement of Visa sponsorship the issue? What I've tried: 1) I applied on career sites and from LinkedIn but I'm always rejected even when I clearly meet the requirements for the position and many times meet the recommended requirements. 2) Trying to connect with recruiters for such locations is futile as they don't accept connection requests even with messages. 3) I'm trying to get referrals but I've made mistakes of applying on career sites beforehand for those positions and the referral won't work then (which is stupid). Others I'm waiting but no response yet. I'll be happy to get some referrals here as randomly pinging people from comments on Blind hasn't helped much. I am not demanding a job but just trying to get a chance at an interview or even a coding test. What am I doing wrong? I've been trying for a month applying for about a hundred postings and this is my progress so far: 1) I had a recruiter from an European startup reach out to me an year earlier on stack overflow. Replying on that led to a 9 hour C++ assignment for which I submitted a wrong solution and mailing the correct one later didn't work. I regret missing that chance. 2) Amazon Europe recruiter reached out to me after I applied on their careers site which led to a coding test. After clearing that I currently am scheduling interviews with them. Getting interviews in India is not a big deal for me as many recruiters have reached out to me for most of the top companies. Can I dm you op, I have some queries on Qualcomm?
I am facing the same issue. Visa sponsorship is problem as well plus if they want to hire Indian, why would they relocate to other country if they already have office in india. There are some exceptions to this due to lack of talent abroad (Amazon is a good example) I have seen quite few cases where people directly got job for other country (where there is no existence of that company in India, like booking.com). Savings will not be a problem abroad if you are unmarried. Every other guy won't be doing MS if getting job abroad directly was this easy.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, all my friends abroad have done MS in US or Europe. The rest are L1. There is just one exception I know that directly went abroad from India to a different company. It also happens that his new company already has engineering in India. As for the answer to your question, what if the person would join that company's team only for certain locations? Then it makes sense. I thought software engineering is a employees' market for experienced candidates.
