How to deal with pain when someone leaves?

How do you manage the pain when someone suddenly leaves and you know it's the end of a relationship? Is it better or worse if that relationship was never meant to be, and letting it go was probably the right thing to do? How do you trust people going forward? My chest feels heavy.

Unfortunately it seems to move really slow when you are experiencing something deep :(

And that's natural in such moments. Keep reminding yourself that and soon you will be out of it.

The best way to deal is to go through the 5 emotions (they don’t come in stages) of loss. The more you deal with those emotions the better you’ll be (at the end -it really is just about time).

How do you deal with those 5 emotions? Asking for a friend

Any rejection make you feel low. Watch something where the protagonist is smart and getting back against all odds. Sherlock Holmes, The Social Network, Batman, LOTR ... also call up old friends. Get out. Then slowly start throwing dinner parties and ask your friends to bring *new* friends. You take care of the beer and wine (Costco) and ask others to bring a dish.

Feel it all, listen to sad songs, do a self examination about what did you contribute to the cause of the end (not saying it’s your fault but there are two sides to a relationship and this will benefit you in the future), and stay strong. It sux but it’s temporary

Cry, get drunk. And then start an exercise program like running. I did and I became super hot, I was thin Revealing a nice jaw line and lean muscles. I eventually met someone amazing and I never looked back. The advice is to work on you.

"tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all"

You would think so. But you don't know what you don't know.

Capital One wEmd21 Nov 8, 2019

This has been my experience at least. People go through many relationships usually, you'll be ok in the long run, it's just hard to imagine right now

Only time can heal. Spend more time with your friends. Keep your mind engaged.

This never gets better. You can have a heartbreak N times and the (N+1) th time still feels worse than before. Even having a baby seems easier. DM me if you want to talk. BTW I've been toying with the idea of developing a solution/ simulus to ease physical symptoms of heart break. Heart break symptoms can happen due to death, breakup, loss, all kinds of things. One shouldn't need to suffer for it 24h a day. ML person here. If anyone wants to chat please let me know.
